Mr Muir's Posts from England

Hello year 7,

Thought we could use this page to stay in contact then you can use the homepage to showcase your work to the world!

So I thought I would prove to you all that the sun does shine in England! This is my home town's Marina where the lucky people who have a boat keeps theirs.

and this is one of my boats (this is the one I use to get to my big one).

As you probably know England's number 1 sport is Football (soccer). It's everywhere - on TV, in the papers, on posters etc. Football players are superstars and hero's over here!!
It's a bit different to Australia because in Aus there are so many different sports that people follow that there is not really a dominant one (rugby league is the closest in Sydney).

So I think that when you go to watch live sport in Sydney it lacks a bit of atmosphere. Last night I was lucky to go to my home teams football match against West Ham. Below is a a very short video I took from my seat to show you the atmosphere (and this was before the game had even kicked off!).

2nd November 2011

Hello year 7, hope you are well.

Since my last post my home football team hasn't won a game but I'm going again on Sunday so fingers crossed - the atmosphere will be good though!

I haven't been doing too much lately.....although I did go for a walk the other day down by the seaside in a part of Brighton called Shoreham-by-sea (google map it) and came across these house boats that people live in. Below is a picture of one of the more eccentric ones. Would you like to live somewhere like this??

Good luck in your exams everyone - plus I'll be looking at your assignments on moodle to see how you went!

Hello team,

How did your exams go?? I had a look at your PDH assignments and they looked good, so well done.
Not long to go before lifesaving starts and not long until you are no longer Year 7's.
Have you enjoyed your first year of senior school? What have been some of your favourite things? Are you looking forward to being a year 8?
I've enjoyed being your teacher this year and who knows, maybe I'll be the PDHPE teacher again for some of you next year.

Winter is starting to set in here in England and things are starting to get christmassy (if that is a word). We also had Guy Fawkes or Bonfire Night last week. It's on the 5th of November and lots of people have fireworks in their back garden or go to big organised shows (which is what I did). To find out why we have it try asking your History teacher or Mr Fielden or look it up.

Unfortunately I didn't manage to get any good pictures of the fireworks so here is a picture of some Brighton Street art instead.
